Cosa vuol dire Avventista?
La nostra comunità è sorta negli Stati Uniti verso la metà del secolo scorso e si situa nel solco aperto dal protestantesimo. Crede perciò in Cristo che, solo, può perdonare e salvare.
Promuove molteplici attività, tutte volte alla predicazione della Bibbia, ritenuta l'unica regola di fede, autofinanziamento attraverso le decime e le offerte volontarie dei suoi fedeli.
In Italia opera fin dal 1864 e nel 1986 ha stipulato con il nostro Governo un'Intesa trasformata poi nella legge 22.11.88 n. 516.
Sul territorio nazionale è presente con un centinaio di chiese, una Casa Editrice a Firenze, un Istituto di Cultura Biblica, una Casa di Riposo a Forlì, un Centro di Benessere , un Centro Giovanile a Poppi (Arezzo), una settantina di centri per l'assistenza ai poveri, radio, una grossa installazione radio a onde corte, 1 scuola.
Avventista: cosa significa
In questo nome sono raccolte le caratteristiche fondamentali della chiesa: essa si definisce "cristiana" perchè ha Cristo come centro della propria fede e per distinguersi da altre comunità di credenti.
La Chiesa Avventista tuttavia ha in comune con le altre chiese cristiane (che si possono dividere in tre grandi gruppi: cattolici, protestanti e ortodossi) alcuni fondamenti della fede, come la credenza nella Bibbia quale libro ispirato da Dio, la credenza in Gesù come Dio venuto sulla terra in forma umana per salvare l'uomo caduto nel peccato,ecc.
Perchè Avventista?
"Avventista" significa: "Colui o colei che attende l'avvento di Cristo". La Bibbia ci dice infatti che Gesù dopo la risurrezione, prima di ascendere al cielo, ha promesso ai discepoli che sarebbe ritornato su questa terra per mettere fine al male, alla sofferenza e per inaugurare un mondo nuovo. Gesù ha dato anche ai discepoli dei segni dei tempi, cioè dei segni caratteristici dell'epoca in cui sarebbe tornato, dei segnali che avrebbero permesso ai suoi discepoli di sapere che il suo ritorno si stava approssimando. Noi avventisti crediamo che molti segni si siano adempiuti e quindi che il ritorno di Gesù sia più vicino.
Perchè del 7° Giorno?
Perchè il 7° giorno, secondo la Bibbia è il sabato (Esodo 20:8-11; Levitico 23:3; Luca 23:54;24:1), il nome ebraico che significa riposo. Il 7° giorno è stato scelto da Dio come giorno a lui dedicato fin dal tempo della creazione (Genesi 2:1-3) e la Chiesa Avventista, seguendo l'esempio della chiesa degli apostoli, lo osserva ancora oggi come giorno di astensione dai lavori settimanali, di riposo e di riunione per il culto comune.

Munich, Germany - In the period 5-9 August, at its height, about
4,500 people from 40 different countries attended the Pan-European
Youth Congress. This was the second Congress run by the Seventh-day
Adventist Church Youth Departments in the Trans-European Division
(TED) and the Euro-Africa Division (EUD). The theme for this Congress
was “It’s Your Turn”.
On the opening evening in the International Congress Center in Munich
(ICM), there was a buzz in the air of the two halls, where
simultaneous and interactive meetings were held. A countdown clock
was in place in the halls encouraging the audience to count down the
opening of the Congress, when Dr Paul Tompkins, TED Youth Director
and Corrado Cozzi, EUD Youth Director welcomed everyone; including
the two division presidents, Dr Bertil Wiklander (TED) and Bruno
Vertallier (EUD). The opening evening speaker was Pastor Eddie
Hypolite, Associate Youth Director from the South England Conference.
In a unique move, the young people were given the opportunity to
discuss three important areas with the leaders of the European
Seventh-day Adventist Church. In preparation for this, on two
mornings the young people met in rooms to examine the mission of the
church, church administration, and social issues. Together they
formulated questions and comments which their group leaders brought
to an open forum panel, consisting of the two division presidents,
Newbold College lecturers, and division, union and conference
administrators.
The discussion spilled over on to a second day, where robust and
honest discussion took place, presided by Newbold College moderators,
Drs Mike Pearson and Laurence Turner.
Commenting on the panel discussions, one of the organisers of the
event, Pastor Victor Marley (Youth Director of the Norwegian Union
Conference) said, “This is a unique opportunity for [the youth] to
find out about how the Adventist Church works; and how we as young
people can help change and re-shape it”. Dr Turner expressed his
surprise at the passion and depth of the discussion”; and Dr Pearson
agreed, saying, “If this is harnessed by the leaders [of the Church]
we have nothing to fear...” The final word was given to the young
people, who generously thanked all the administrators for taking part
in this unique experiment.
From this assembly a Munich Statement was formulated, which will be
presented to the two divisions and their territories, with a
recommendation for consideration and implementation,
This Statement reads:
* “We have appreciated the conversation that has begun here in Munich
with our leaders and we are grateful for your genuine concern.
* We, the youth, are committed to the Seventh-day Adventist Church,
and are willing to contribute and get actively involved.
* We therefore urge the church leaders of Europe to move towards a
new paradigm of leadership based on open dialogue, mutual
understanding and a common goal.
* We believe this new paradigm will motivate the youth to a greater
sense of worship and accountability, for the extension of God’s
kingdom in Europe.”

Viktor Gjika – Ky Fëmijë i Perëndisë
përshtatur nga fjalimi i shkurtër në ceremoninë e varrimit 4 mars 2009)
Viktor Gjika, përveçse ishte nje personalitet i shquar i artit shqiptar, një regjizor që dha një kontribut të jashtëzakonshëm, ishte edhe njëkohësisht fëmijë i Perëndisë, një besimtar i përulur dhe i thjeshtë i krishterë Adventist. Kisha Adventiste ishte shtëpia e tij shpirtërore, ndërsa besimin Adventist ai e trashëgoi nga e ëma, e paharruashmja nënë Meropi Gjika, e cila e mbajti besimin të gjallë për dekada të tëra dhe me dashuri i rriti Viktorin dhe fëmijët e tjerë që ta duan Zotin dhe të mbajnë urdhërimet e Tij.
Ndërkohë që këto ditë janë ditë trishtimi, ditë lotësh, gjejmë ngushëllim që Viktor Gjika fle në Krishtin, aq më tepër kur ne, si të krishterë kemi shpresën e ringjalljes, premtuar nga vetë Zoti ynë Jezus Krisht.
Gjoni 11:25 - Jezusi i tha: ``Unë jam ringjallja dhe jeta; ai që beson në mua, edhe sikur të duhej të vdesë do të jetojë.
Zbulesa 1:17b-18 - Mos u tremb! Unë jam i pari dhe i fundit, dhe i gjalli; isha i vdekur, por ja, jam i gjallë në shekuj të shekujve, amen; dhe unë i kam çelësat e vdekjes e të Hadesit.

LUTJE - I dashur Zot, Krijuesi dhe Shpëtimtari ynë, Ndërkohë që në dashurinë, dhembshurinë dhe urtësinë Tënde, ti ke lejuar vëllain tonë të dashur, Viktorin, që të bjerë në gjumë në Krishtin, ne me hijeshi e dorëzojmë trupin e tij në dhe nën kujdesin e engjëjve të Tu të shenjtë, me shpresën e sigurt tek zgjimi i ringjalljes së mrekullueshme, kur Zoti ynë Jezus Krisht do të rikthehet në lavdi. Atëherë ky trup do të transformohet dhe do të bëhet si trupi i lavdishëm i i Zotit tonë dhe, së bashku me gjithë besimtarët, të gjallë e të zgjuar, do të jetojmë në përjetësinë e mundësuar nga sakrifica e Jezu Krishtit, në emër të të cilit lutemi, AMEN.

Iniciativa ungjillizuese ne Zagreb
MAJOR EVANGELISM INITIATIVE IN CROATIA
Zagreb, Croatia - The Croatian Conference of the Seventh-day
Adventist Church is running a major evangelistic campaign in Zagreb,
the capital of Croatia. The Sheraton Hotel is the venue for this
series of evangelistic meetings being held during the period 16
January – 7 February.
The conference hall, which seats 700, was completely full on the
first night of the campaign. The majority of the visitors had been
made aware of this event by advertisements made through local media
and the Internet.
The main speaker of the series is the renowned Australian TV
evangelist Geoff Youlden. His communication methods are simple but
very effective. At the beginning of the meetings, copies of the Bible
were handed out to each attendee.
Following the first eight presentations, the number of visitors has
remained stable. Every night 400-500 non-Adventists have been
attending. One of the attendees commented: “The presentations are
relevant and inspiring. It is praiseworthy that copies of Bibles are
supplied for everyone...I see this [campaign] as one of the major
religious events to be held in Zagreb during the last ten years”.
A wider audience is also benefitting from the ongoing campaign. Most
of the churches in the Croatian Conference have organised meetings in
their local church halls during the implementation of this programme,
and through live streaming the message has also reached listeners in
a series of countries.
One of the Internet viewers, commented, “These presentations have
stimulated me to start reading the Bible, which I very seldom did
before. Thank you from the bottom of my heart”.
This evangelistic series is part of the Croatian Conference’s plan to
reach the big cities, and the Church has plans to organise a campaign
in one new city each year.
